Discovering Gavin and Stacey via Aberdare Blog January 1st, 2008 at 20:46

image Better late than never… this Christmas we discovered the television comedy Gavin and Stacey, thanks to a gift from a kind uncle. The comedy was written by Ruth Jones and James Corden. It was a thrilling discovery. We had to pause the DVD several times to try and recover from fits of hysterical laughter. Gavin and Stacey is a lovely romantic comedy romp, with a strong Welsh flavour. There were one or two scenes that really tickled the heart-strings in a big way. We fought (and failed) to hold back the tears watching the scene with Rob Brydon on the way to the Church with his niece. Rob Brydon was absolutely excellent. He recently appeared in a one-man show in the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare. How we now wish we had gone to see him! The humour in Gavin Stacey is reminiscent of...

Bust Up in Bombay over Boobs via Aberdare Blog December 1st, 2006 at 22:58

image A typing error by a journalist at the Bombay Leader newspaper has sparked mass rioting at the Indian city’s travel agents with fights breaking out over air flights to visit Aberdare this weekend. A news story was printed claiming that “Ann Clwyd MP will be unveiling her bust at Rock Grounds Aberdare“. Comedy Night In Liverpool Royal Court, Sexiness and Dominos Pizza via The Gospel According To Rhys October 29th, 2006 at 18:35

I'm back from Liverpool on what must have been one of the best weekends this year. Saturday Night was brilliant, and it began at around 5:30, watching the football results come in and around the country. We origianally planned to head to Weatherspoons for a spot of tea before the comedy, however we decided against it to have a Dominos. We forsaked it the night before instead going for the better value of Papa Johns. However, we realised the errors of our ways with the stodgy horrible pizza we got. Dominos is the king, and we tucked into the into the Tex-Mex and Pepperoni Passion pizzas, we were happy chappies. After the Dominos, we headed out to the main event of the weekend - Comedy Night with Jim Jefferies. We saw Jim earlier this year and promised ourselves we'd go and see him should...

Comedy Nights, Mech Warriors, Space Websites and Bluetooth Spam via The Gospel According To Rhys August 24th, 2006 at 11:12

As I really cannot be arsed posting today, here's a collection of links that I've found over the past few days. Firstly is Andrew Lawrence. Veteran readers may be aware that for around 4-5 months this year Thursday nights were spent at comedy clubs up and down Liverpool. One of the first acts I saw was this comedian called Andrew Lawrence, who came out of nowhere, and was one of the funniest things I ever saw. Anyway, turns out he has a myspace on the new myspace comedy site, and he has posted two videos of him performing. I urge you to check it out, especially if you like my sort of humour. The link is here. Check out video 2, which was almost the exact same set as I watched. Cheers to Guy for digging that one up for me. Secondly, from Fark.com is this. How cool is that? I used to love...

Per Year More People Get Eaten By Sharks Than Bummed By Clowns via The Gospel According To Rhys May 26th, 2006 at 14:18

Last night was Tom's 21st, so we went to the Comedy Club to celebrate. I have missed going there, just feel so cultured going, and we don't have anything like that around North Wales. Well we do, but it's like Joe Pasquale in Rhyl for £20. No thanks. Shame really, as I'm sure a comedy club in somewhere like Speakers Corner in Colwyn Bay would be good. Anyway, I digress. There were two really funny comedians and two bombs, so 50% hit rate is not to be sniffed at, especially as the two that were funny were laugh out loud funny. Following the show, we went to a place caleld Heeby Jeebies. I've never ever been there before, and kind of got separated from the group on the way (largely due to me wanting a burger, so I got a burger). I was lost, and I couldn't find anybody. All I knew was...
