A local photographer made a wonderfully insightful comment, writing that the photo had “an almost 2D feel to it as though it is part of a film set”.

Merthyr Tydfil town is a goldmine of fascinating sights for the passing photographer. There are many sculptures and other interesting landmarks, the Carnegie Library, old County Court, several Churches and Chapels, and of course the people of Merthyr itself!
When walking through the town centre, cast your head back high and take a look at some of the architectural detail high-up on the older buildings. Some of it is breathtaking.
On a walk from Merthyr town centre to the Pontmorlais area of town, we snapped some photos of the Hope and Market Square United Church.

St Mary’s Church, Welshpool gives a splendid vantage point over the town of Welshpool. You can see the lush green rolling hills beyond the town from the Church.
Welshpool War Memorial is situated within the grounds of St Mary’s Church, a 20ft memorial built of sandstone.

The largest sculpture in Wales stands at 12 metres and weighs a colossal eleven tonnes.
Kite Trail by Carmarthenshire based artist Andrew Rowe was commissioned a part of a regeneration project and stands as a seafront market at Aberavon beach.
It was installed in December 2007 and stands opposite the Aquadome and next to Franco’s chip shop.
Work on the footings remains unfinished. There is also a much smaller ‘tail’ sculpture that accompanies the larger ‘kite’. When finished, the sculpture will be illuminated at night.

Britain, Britain, Britain land of sculptures, too many of which depict a fascination for war, war, war.
And then in 2005 the Alison Lapper Pregnant by Marc Quinn was unveiled in the heart of London.
She is situated in Trafalgar Square named after the 1805 naval battle during the Napoleonic wars.
For companions she has bronze statues of British generals and other members of the warrior aristocracy.
Along with Sir Edwin Landseer’s four couchant lions guarding Nelson’s Column.
Lapper is depicted naked and heavily pregnant.
The material used is Carraran marble, also famously used for Marble Arch, London.
The sculptor Marc Quinn writes eloquently about his work thus :
