Well yet again it is one of those days that everyone talks about in a mater of fact way. Its Shrove Tuesday, or as it has become to be known as "Pancake Day". Of course we all know it's a day created to celebrate the culinary niceties of Pancakes! This is another example of a tradition rooted in religious practices turned into an excuse to consume.Shrove Tuesday is traditionally a day to prepare for the fast during Lent, and therefore Shrove Tuesday and Lent comes as part ans parcel. However just as it is with Christmas, and Easter we see this culture of consumption rear its fat over fed head. It is funny how these occasions have been turned into a consumer fest of gorging and spend spend spend! All you hear on the TV or Radio is "oh it's Pancake day" or, as i heard on local news today...
