image Furniture reuse charity Valleys Furniture Recycling - known as Too Good To Waste - has been shortlisted for the Cylch Community Recycler of the Year Award. The Ferndale-based charity which is supported by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is one of three Welsh charities shortlisted as Community Recycler of the Year and volunteers are hoping plenty of local people will help them secure the first prize. Who wins the award is down to a voting scheme which can be found on www.cylch.org or by writing to Jasmine Brown at Cylch, 113 Cathedral Road, Cardiff, CF11 9PH. image The Walking Bus Trial Scheme for Ysgol Penderyn School will not be going ahead due to a lack of interest in the scheme. Headteacher of Ysgol Penderyn School Mr Williams recently wrote to all parents regarding a Walking Bus trial scheme for the school. Walking Bus schemes identify walking opportunities and provides trained parents to escort children to and from school. Walking bus schemes can have many benefits, including promoting healthy exercise through regular walking, improving road safety awareness and developing pedestrian and social skills. The scheme also helps to reduce traffic congestion, improves air quality - and saves time for parents.
